Beijing China June 2011
June 9-18, 2011

As most of you know, Shane is now working for a Chinese company, Lenovo. He was asked to go over for business in June 2011 and he very nicely asked if I want to join him. I cannot tell you how surprised I was to be able to go to China. What an amazing group of people and country! It was an extraordinary experience that I cannot say enough about. Some of the sights we saw while we were there were the Olympic Village (Birdcage and Water cube), The great wall at Badaling and Mutianyu, Ming's Tomb, Summer Palace, Lama Temple, Panda Garden, Forbidden City, and Tian An Men Square. We went shopping at the Silk and Pearl Markets, we even found time to go to the spa while we were there.

Above we have me in the porcelain museum, to the left we have Shane and I in front of the birdcage stadium, and the left in front of the water cube. Lower to the left is us in front of the Olympic torch.

Shane and I at the Beijing Zoo checking out the pandas
Above we have Shane and I at the Beijing museum, and to the left, in Tian An Men Square in front of the Forbidden City. Below left is a pic in front of the Forbidden City and to the right was when we were in the Forbidden City some of the Chinese folks were so happy to see Americans that they would come up next to you, put their arms around you and get their partner to snap photos of you. Very odd...
Found some of Shane's family members while on our visit. He was shocked to see them...
Shane and I in the Forbidden City.
The paving stones alone are 600 yrs old
Thankfully the signs were in English!!!
Shane and I at the Summer Palace
These last couple of photos were taken at the Great wall at Mutianyu. The best part about it certainly wasn't the brutal hike, but the fact that you can get on a cart and slide down to get back to your car!!!! Amazing views from this one!
